Renowned Chef Sean Connolly, inspired by his extensive travels throughout the Mediterranean, has developed QT Auckland’s new signature restaurant concept at Esther. Sean’s culinary style is centred around simplicity. Chasing food of the sun, Esther’s menu features flavours and soft spices from Sicily to Southern France to Morocco, but each dish maintains the authentic integrity of the region.
“My art is about minimalism. The ‘less is more’ approach is how I roll every day. It’s what I don’t do to a dish rather than what I do. I don’t overwork it. I let the ingredients speak for themselves. Beautiful produce, provenance and the thinking behind the dish is what makes me tick.” – Sean Connolly
About the restaurant
Reminiscent of the Mediterranean, Esther recalls a summer spent skipping from Southern France to Sicily to Morocco. Chef Sean Connolly’s influence shines through not only the menu but ambience.
About the food
With the warm embrace of humble tradition, Esther brings the authentic tastes of the Mediterranean’s sun-soaked shores to QT Auckland; perched by the marina at the Viaduct Harbour, catching the salty air.
Come for a coast along the French Riviera, saunter through Sicily, then let’s get lost in the magnificence of Morocco. Stay tuned for what’s on at Esther.
Smells and tastes can trigger some of our most powerful memories and can take you back to a time long ago, a place far away or even to a moment past with the person right across the table from you. Esther is nomadic, it travels widely but always returns home
